Thailand: Bangkok & Beyond

Bangkok – Kanchanburi – Ayutthaya – Lopburi – Phitsanulok – Sukhothai – Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai

Visit three of the most unusual Buddhist temples in Bangkok: Wat Trimitr with its invaluable Golden Buddha (5 ½ tons of solid gold) – Wat Po, the most extensive temple in Bangkok with its colossal Reclining Buddha and the Chedis of the Kings. See the Grand Palace, one of the most beautiful examples of an ancient Siamese court and former residence of the Kings of Thailand. You’ll also visit Kanchanaburi to travel on the historical ‘Death Train’, a remnant from World War II. Journey north through Ayutthaya, an ancient former capital, strewn with historical monuments, and Lopburi, home to the Monkey Temple. Your journey continues through central Thailand until reaching Chiang Mai, home to the legendary White Temple, and beyond to the Golden Triangle where remote ethnic tribes live such as the Yao and Akha people.
